The story of
Palácio Tangará
São Paolo’s urban oasis surrounded by the tropical foliage of Burle Marx Park.

Romantic beginnings
In the late 1940s, the extraordinarily wealthy playboy industrialist Francisco 'Baby' Pignatari was renowned for romancing glamorous women in the world’s most glamorous places, dispatching diamond necklaces, demijohns of perfume and roomfuls of flowers. In one magnificently romantic gesture, Baby built Tangará for his beautiful wife Ira von Fürstenberg. But ultimately, he couldn’t resist the playboy lifestyle and both his wife and Tangará were abandoned – until Oetker Hotels revived the palace for its guests.
