MONTECRISTO By far the biggest-selling brand of Habano, Montecristo was founded in 1935 and named after Alexandre Dumas’s famous book. The rollers chose the name after hearing The Count of Monte Cristo read to them by the lector, or “reader”, a tradition that is maintained to this day. Montecristo cigars are medium- to full-bodied, depending on size.

PUNCH Punch is one of the older cigar brands in Cuba, having been around since 1840. It was originally owned by a German, who made cigars especially for the British market. The brand is named after Mr Punch, the famous comedy puppet character from Punch and Judy and a picture of him takes pride of place on the inside of each box of cigars.

POR LARRAÑGA Begun in 1834 by Ignacio Larrañaga, the factory was the first in Cuba to use machines for some of its production. This resulted in a boycott by the workers, who were none too pleased about the threat to their livelihood! Nowadays, Por Larrañaga produces a small range of high-quality handmade cigars that are known for their easy-smoking properties.
