An icon among hotels
For 150 years this grand hotel has remained in the hands of just two owning families. It represents the birthplace of Oetker Hotels, and is a unique legacy of living culture in the World Heritage town of Baden-Baden. Following a two-year renovation, it reopened late 2025 with a contemporary spirit and the unmistakable smile that longstanding guests will recognise only too well.
On October 21, Baden-Baden’s court tailor, Anton Alois Brenner, purchases a hotel on Lichtentaller Allee called Stéphanie-les-Bains at auction and establishes the Brenners family hotel operations.
Camille Brenner inherits the hotel from his father, renames it Hotel Stephanie, and develops it into Baden-Baden’s leading grand hotel for the well-to-do.
King Chulalongkorn of Siam and Laos and his attendants hold court at the hotel.
Camille Brenner bequeaths the hotel to his sons Kurt and Alfred. In the 'golden twenties' they expand, rebuild and open the Kasino Stephanie, which becomes a social hub. The Oetker family purchases a stake in Brenners Park.
The brothers host an astounding 40,000 overnight guests during a period of economic hardship.
Rudolf-August Oetker purchases the hotel from the Brenner family. It becomes the first luxury hotel in today’s Oetker Hotels.
After a period of closure during the Second World War, Brenners Park-Hotel reopens its 160 rooms and welcomes 17,000 overnight guests in the first year.
On 15 February, Brenners hosts preliminary talks for the Franco-German friendship treaty. The hotel is hailed as the 'Cradle of Europe'.
Brenners Park-Hotel & Spa hosts German Chancellor Helmut Kohl and French President Jacques Chirac for the 66th Franco-German Summit.
The wives and girlfriends of the English national football team call Brenners home for several weeks during the FIFA world cup.
Celebrations for the 60th anniversary of NATO are held in Baden-Baden. The guest list includes German Chancellor Angela Merkel and US President Barack Obama.
