Running in the Black-Forest

Whether at a walking or jogging pace, the famous Lichtentaler Allee does wonders for your heart and soul. The basic route begins at Brenners and takes you along the Lichtentaler Allee, past the Gonneranlage rose garden and the dahlia garden to the Klosterwiese meadow. The magnificent mature trees and the many decorative bridges over the romantic River Oos will charm and delight.

Flatlander

This leisurely bicycle outing begins on Baden-Baden’s famous Lichtentaler Allee and follows the River Oos downstream, past Museum Frieder Burda, Kunsthalle art gallery, LA8 arts centre and the theatre in Goetheplatz. The route leads to Haueneberstein village and then Schloss Favorite, the baroque-styled summer residence of Margravine Sibylla Augusta, built in 1710.

Over hill and dale

On this tour you will climb 450m and visit the finest vantage points of the northern Black Forest. From Lichtentaler Allee, the route follows Gunzenbach valley to Leisbergstraße. Across the main B500, a picturesque forest trail leads to Geroldsau waterfalls. Continue to the Bütthof woodland inn, and finally along Grobbach brook to Übelsbach valley, Geroldsau and the 13th-century Lichtenthal Abbey.

The 'Torture' Trail

This tour takes you up picturesque 1000m peaks. Start along Lichtentaler Allee to the Brahmsplatz and climb the Haimbach valley, past the Schafberg estate, onto the Müllenbildweg trail to the mountain pass between Baden-Baden and Gernsbach. Then up to the Harzbrunnen mountain spring and the region’s highest mountain, the Badener Höhe, with wonderful views over the Rhine Valley and distant Strasbourg. Choose from two options for the return leg.

Enjoy fresh Black Forest air and stunning views on this scenic circular hike starting at the ruins of Hohenbaden Castle (“Old Castle”). The trail loops around the Battert nature reserve, leading to several panoramic viewpoints before returning along a path with impressive rock formations rising up to 50 meters high.

Starting at the Merkur funicular station, the trail leads through forests, vineyards, and peaceful valleys, passing the Marienkapelle and charming local landmarks before ending at the Forellenhof Hotel, renowned for its trout farm.

This scenic hike leads to some of the region’s most beautiful viewpoints. Starting in Lichtental, the trail passes through the Black Forest to the Badener Höhe, offering stunning panoramic views over the Murg Valley and the northern Black Forest.

Climbing

Experience the thrill of climbing in Baden-Baden with two exciting outdoor options. At the adventure park, climb from tree to tree at heights ranging from 3 to 14 metres across seven different courses, each offering varying levels of difficulty. The park features a water section, tree house, children’s ropeway, low ropes course, and a tree root climbing area—perfect for all ages. After a safety briefing, you'll be equipped with a harness and helmet, and securely guided by a steel rope throughout your climb.

For a more natural challenge, head to Battertfelsen, a popular climbing spot with breathtaking routes between 15 and 60 metres in length. Surrounded by stunning scenery, this location offers unforgettable experiences for both beginners and seasoned climbers.
